 Current and Future Plot Ideas
« Thread Started on Dec 12, 2005, 12:02pm »

Ok, I know there aren't any members aside from Laura and myself at the moment, but I thought I might ramble on some of my plot ideas. Perhaps it might entice you people who consider joining to actually join. I'll also be going into some detail about what sort of plot ideas are possible in Grey Haze [which includes just about any properly developed idea].

The Exnomin, firstly, is in need of members. But not only does Grey Haze need members for its currently only standing pack, but it needs another pack to form as well. Well, at least one more. I'd like to see several, but I also don't want a bunch of dinky packs running about. Not that that would ever become much of a problem; that is what pack take-overs are for. >:3

As I was saying, The Exnomin need more members and there needs to be at least one more pack. Why, you may ask? Because, my darlings, I've got plans for Nemisis to stir-up quite a bit of trouble. But she can't do anything if there is no one here who's feathers she can ruffle. I will say this much, however: her plans, once they come to light and develop ICly, are certain to create an endless number of opportunities for plots and likely to spark a battle or even an all-out war if time allows.

Another idea I had was to introduce humans into the game. Perhaps not as player characters; they may just be personal NPC's. But the purpose of them would be to create an environment where wolven characters are used in pit-fighting. So often we see characters who suffered some abusing and violent history by the hand of man. I thought a forum that actually allowed for this to actually be roleplayed would be very interesting. I'd never seen a roleplay revolving around pit-fighting wolves, which isn't to say Grey Haze would strictly subscribe to that genre, but it could certainly become a key part of it.

Then, stemming from that notion of a roleplay that involved humans and pit-fighting, I thought there was no better way to tie it into the Grey Haze world that to gradually allow the appearance of genetically altered wolves. I once ran a roleplay called Weathered where the main plot was a war between Alterians [genetically altered wolves] and Generians [natural wolves]. The roleplayers there loved it to death, but the roleplay was short lived due to a lack of time and a lack of staff.

While the genetically altered characters may not appear until much later, it is certainly an idea to look forward to, as I hope to keep this roleplay running for years. I might even go so far as to say Grey Haze could become a prelude to Weathered. And, anyone who knows of Weathered would realize that for such an event to take place, there is another great plot to be considered: man's apocalypse. Many roleplays take place after it; how many roleplay through it?

Those are just a few ideas from my bag o' goodies. But while I am writing this, I thought I ought to point-out a very simple truth with reguard to the way I designed the rules of Grey Haze: I did not create them in order to restrict possibilities. Rather, they are in place to prevent the game from becoming too outrageous too fast. What do I mean by this? I mean if you have a plot idea involving alien wolves coming from another planet to this one that you'd really like to see happen, it can be worked-out into a major plot of the game. Time-travel is not an impossibility. A mechanized army of wolves is not out of the scope of Grey Haze's reality. A mutating viral disease; a power-hungry character bent on ruling all of Grey Haze and even succeeding; the possibilities are literally endless. The key is to execute such outlandish ideas in a way make it 'fit' into the history of Grey Haze. If you are having difficulty finding a way to 'ground' your wild idea so that it is an acceptable plot, speak with me or Laura! I, personally, love problem-solving. I take great pleasure in taking a plot idea and working at it until it is perfect and flows seamlessly into the continuity of a game. The only restriction on these plots is that they much be reviewed and approved by the game owners. Let us know your plans so that we don't think you're just being ridiculous! So we know you are truly contributing to the growth of the game.

In short, any properly developed plot idea, no matter how unlikely, is possible. I think that about sums it up. Everyone, members and non-members alike, I welcome you to the reality that is Grey Haze.

^-^ Ooh! Saesan has an idea!
There is a triad of wolves I'd like to form- one is Maddy, another the Sallachi you'll find if you look closely at her memory post. Another you won't find here at all, and I won't reveal quite yet. But, anyhoo...
I was thinking of a wolf religion. Whaaaat?! Yup, religion. Maddykins seems to have stumbled across it while she was buried, and I have a 95%-completed post on it coming up. I don't want to spill all of it until someone shows interest, so if anyone is interested, please tell me so! We might even have multiple religions and have them squabble with each other, with the churches or temples or shrines or whatever fighting for converts, and maybe monastaries of something where strange skills are cultivated, like pottery or weaving or something similar. I think that would be fun. Anybody else?
-edit-
Wow, hyperactivity. o_O I'd like to vouch for the pit-fighting and genetic modification. That is le major coolness. :P What modifications? There could be different races of Alterians! Like, with better balance, nimbler paws that could function like hands, or something, and then... wildness! =O *gaspeth* ^-^ Raevin has my vote for a Weathered prequel!!
Oh, and I have a question for you, Raevin. Is Grey Haze in the actual North American continent as we know it, or an alternate universe North America, or a different planet entirely, just populated with Earth species?

...And another one! Could the scientists fly in foreign wolves/canids/critters to introduce, like jackals or dingoes? They can interbreed with wolves, I looked it up. Sorry for the digression, today was the most boring schoolday in the history of the universe and my mind has been on Grey Haze for, like, 9 hours. XD
BTW, I referred a friend here, so maybe we can expect a new player. I dunno.
